For Your EYES Only

The world is full of some overwhelming stimuli right now, so maybe you just want to look and not listen...

I like to stream beautiful images while I'm painting, baking, or cooking.

#1 Moving Art, 2014-2019

Directed by Louie Schwartzberg

3 Seasons

I have streamed Moving Art on my tv more times than I can count. I love the colors, and am particularly drawn to the episodes of Season One, which feature oceans, flowers, deserts, forests, waterfalls, and life underwater. The editing is a little clunky; it seems like they were really trying to shove as many beautiful images into 26 minutes as possible. Since I view the show while otherwise occupied, it doesn't tend to bother me too much. Seasons Two and Three are also enjoyable, and tend to get more region-specific, with episodes focusing on the Galapagos, Tahiti, and Macchu Picchu.

Available to stream on Netflix

#2 Wonders of the Sea, 2017

Directed by Jean-Michel Cousteau, Jean-Jacques Mantello

Starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jean-Michel, Fabien, and Céline Cousteau

Narration in Wonders of the Sea will teach you a little about what coral reefs are while promoting environmental causes, but it's kind of hard to listen to Schwarzenegger and the other voice overs, and I don't find the script particularly informative. The star of this film is really the stunning photography and cinematography captured by the Cousteau family undersea between Fiji and the Bahamas. One final caveat: everything free has it's cost, and this one comes wth commercial interruptions.

Beautiful images start at the 5:50 time signature.

#3 Jellyfish! And More!

Live Camera Streams

Monterey Bay Aquarium

These live streams from the Monterey Bay Aquarium in California won't have any commercial interruptions! Just gorgeous, soothing images of jellyfish floating across your screen.

This first link is an up-close look at delicate sea nettles and their long, lacey tentacles.

Available on Youtube

Tentacles not your thing? Monterey Bay has a SECOND live stream of Pacific Moon Jellies! Watch their groovy, translucent bells drift across your screen during their seasonal visit to the aquarium. If they feed extensively on crustaceans, they turn pink or lavender! Brine shrimp makes them turn orange!

Moon Jelly Cam is live every day from 7am to 7pm PST.

Available on Youtube

The Monterey Bay Aquarium actually has lots of webcams and live streams available for your viewing pleasure, including shark, coral reef, penguin, sea otter and aviary camera feeds. See their full list here.
